Do you want to know how it feels to speak Bulgarian for the first time? Here is an experience I had in my first studies of speaking Bulgarian.
Tongues were defiantly twisted
One interesting thing about learning Bulgarian is its alphabet, the Cyrillic alphabet. Some of the letters look like English letters but make different sounds. For example, the letter “B” in Bulgarian sounds like “V”. This can be confusing at first, but becomes easier once you get used to it. Another interesting fact about learning Bulgarian is that Bulgarian vowels can change based on stress, which gives the language a musical quality when spoken. In most cultures, nodding means “yes” and shaking your head means “no”. However, in Bulgarian, it’s the opposite! Nodding means “no”, and shaking your head means “yes”. This can take time to adjust, but it’s an interesting part of learning the language and understanding Bulgarian customs.
