A Poem of Traveling Up Vitosha*

A Poem of Traveling Up Vitosha*

by J.H. (9th Grade)

On the way up the mountain, on bus sixty-one

There’s a long curvy road that’s a whole ton of fun

If the driver is speedy you feel like you’ll die

And crash down the mountain with a great many cries

But that never happens (at least that I know of)

Up a stretch there’s a field that is made a great show of

It’s a big grassy place that is near some large boulders

Epic games of hide and seek have been played by us olders

There’s mekitsi on upwards, it’s a type of fried bread

Served with jam and white cheese or there’s French toast instead

It’s a wonderful place full of wonderful times

If you don’t ever go there it would be a crime

Though you don’t really need to, it is very nice

It is also a source of superb exercise

*Vitosha is a mountain right outside of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and the home of SCA.
