Hear about what our 5 graduates and our beloved literature teacher have been doing this year (2025-2026)!
by Reuben J, Joanna S, and Jude H.
SCA has had five graduates in the last two years, a huge increase compared to previous years! Those of you who know or are related to them, or who remember our goodbye newsletter to last year’s graduates, may have been wondering: Where are they? What happened to these bright young souls? What goals and dreams are they pursuing? Thanks to Sanctified Nonsense, hopefully your worries will be assuaged and your questions answered with these little updates about each of their lives.
Additionally, our wonderful literature teacher and headmistress Ms. Lydia has been in America for the past months. Here’s an update on what she did there!
Hosea J:
Hosea, currently a sophomore in Wheaton College (Illinois, not Massachusetts), is having a ball. Last year, he got involved in the Wheaton Men’s Glee Club, a lighthearted singing group, eventually being placed in several positions of authority. Although the Glee Club has been known to tour in the past, it has never risen to the heights that Hosea has brought it to. This year, they will be performing on national television, including a solo that Hosea will sing, the Queen of the Night aria from Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute”, a surprise choice because men’s voices can rarely reach that high. You won’t want to miss it!
Josias J:
Just like his older brother Hosea, Josias entered Wheaton College upon graduation. Normally unassuming and serene, Josias has been living it up, especially now that the school year comes to a close. While his classes are going swimmingly (his roommate says Josias studies more than almost anyone he knows), he has one worry: He has begun to regret the giant color tattoo he got of all of the members of ABBA. He found it to be a bit much that it covers his entire back, so he’s been getting it removed piece by piece. Currently only the heads are gone.
Nathan C:
Nathan, who joined us briefly for one year, has been going places. Literally. Previously, he was working towards an IT certificate, but things changed. While signing up to play professional soccer (or as he would say, “Football”) for a short while in Bulgaria, due to a few unfortunate typos, he is now on his way to play professional foosball in Bolivia. Despite his initial hesitation, Nathan has readily warmed up to the challenge and is prepared to face great odds in the foosball business.
Ellie H:
Ellie, former resident of the University of Cincinnati, is now somewhere in the wilderness of Indiana; so, probably in a field. The reason for this is that she and several of her friends have ditched college and embarked on a quest to make the first crocheted scarf to span the width of the USA. Stopping only to buy more yarn and snacks, she and her colleagues have weaved their way from New Jersey and are nearing the border of Illinois. Once the scarf is complete, it will stretch from the East Coast to the West Coast (with some help so as to avoid stopping the flow of traffic) and their quest will be complete.
Nevaeh H:
Since Nevaeh left SCA two years ago, she went off to college (the University of Cincinnati) and got a great education. In fact she got such a great education that she had no need to stay for the full four years, and was able to start a mortuary business instead! Despite the concerns some people had, Nevaeh, along with her former roommate and current business partner, has started a very successful business (which she never would have been able to do without the handy article “How to Start a Mortuary Business: Building a Legacy of Care”). Her business is going so well that she will soon embark on her world tour, complete with an educational afterschool children’s program. If you have any young children, get tickets now and support one of SCA’s alumni!
Ms. Lydia:
Our great literature and writing teacher is back after having been away for several months pursuing her lifelong dream of presenting her groundbreaking inventions on Shark Tank. We would tell you about them, but she doesn’t want anyone stealing her ideas (let’s just say, how would you like a dog that would polish rocks for you?). Although she was not given the funds to start her polishing dog army, we have no doubt she’ll get them next time! And in the meantime, we are glad to have her back!
