Dump Truck, I Win

The most excellent family tradition you can think of!

by Heidi H. (8th Grade)

Most times when going somewhere with my family, whether to church or somewhere else that takes at least twenty minutes, it’s hard to get there without seeing a dump truck.

Coincidently, it’s a family tradition to compete for who can find dump trucks. The way we tell who saw the dump truck first is the phrase “dump truck, I win”. The person who saw it will tell this phrase to whoever is nearest. That person in turn will groan, look around for it, sigh, say someone else already got it, or a combination of those.

The only rules are that a dump truck can’t be gotten twice and it has to be a dump truck, not a flatbed truck or a garbage truck. Many trucks can dump, but only a few are called dump trucks. So next time you see a dump truck, tell the person next to you.
