The Eyes of God

One of Bulgaria’s coolest caves. Why is called “The Eyes of God”? Read and find out!

Not far from Sofia, between it and the Danube river, is one of Bulgaria’s coolest cave formations. Prohodna Cave, more commonly known as the Eyes of God, is a large cave that is best known for its two giant holes in the ceiling. From a certain angle, they look very much like eyes peering down from the heavens; there are even pictures of the moon shining through one, giving the appearance of an actual eye. Some of the pictures even have one moon in each hole, which took me an embarrassingly long time to verify as fakes.
