A Sonnet 130-style poem about Jude’s Valentine, who is… not the ideal person.
by Jude H. (10th Grade)
I do not like your wiry hair
Your lips are dull, your eyes just stare
I cannot stand the sight of you
In any color, tone, or hue
Your hands they look like grainy leather
I dread to put our palms together
Your nose is small and slightly red
I sometimes wish that you were dead
Because you’re mean, because you’re cruel
When will you get expelled from school?
You cannot sing to save your life
I’d kick myself were you my wife
But since no other will be mine,
Will you please be my Valentine?
