Teenage Angst, What a Joke

A Junior’s contemplation of the Future

by Reuben J. (11th Grade)

A newsletter is an excellent thing for me to be part of, because it’s a place for me to dump my random thoughts where people will read them with no way of getting revenge.

This time, I’m thinking (as I generally do at the start of a school year) about how hard and stressful this next year will be, especially since this specific year I am a Junior. This means that I am obligated to start preparing for the dark and dreary future, which rears its fearsome head like me getting up in the mornings.

The thing is, I’ve worried about similar things every year, and every year has gone by with zero mental breakdowns (though, as you can see, I have put forth quite a few unhinged ravings). Maybe I worry too much, or perhaps this year really will drive me to a dramatic meltdown.

But from past experience, I expect not.
