It’s 2026 now
I really must confess
Resolutions, they are difficult
And bring upon me stress
So, of course, I have decided
That I really mustn’t fear
Resolutions, say farewell
I’m not making them this year!
Instead, I’ll have some hopes and dreams
Which sound much more poetic
Than ‘resolutions’, which resolve
To make me look pathetic
I hope to learn more German
I dream of growing beans
I want to learn how movies
Are projected onto screens
Really, though, I only want
Some okay grades in school
For now that I’m in ninth grade
I can’t just sit and drool
But, watch out, Mr. New Year!
You’d better let me win
I’d better be successful
Or I just might kick your shins
